Renowned wine writers Aoife Carrigy and Cathal McBride will share their fascinating paths in the world of professional wine writing. Each will select three of their favourite wines for you to taste and enjoy, offering personal reflections on the wines and the stories behind them

Meet the Experts:
Aoife Carrigy: Aoife Carrigy is the wine columnist for the Irish Independent, and has worked as a freelance food, drink and travel journalist, editor and author for two decades, with a happy five year stint as Deputy Editor of Food&Wine Magazine during which time she achieved her WSET Level 2 & 3 wine accreditation.
She has won three Irish Food Writing Awards for her journalism (in 2021 for wine writing, in 2022 for drinks writing and in 2023 for food writing), and co-authored three restaurant cookbooks: The Ard Bia Cookbook (2012, Atrium Press), The Green Cookbook (An Post Cookbook of the Year 2019, Gill Books) and most recently The Old Spot Cookbook (2024, Nine Bean Rows) Follow Aoife on Instagram: @aoifecarrigy_
Cathal McBride: Cathal McBride is a food and wine writer based in Galway with a passion for all types of gastronomy, wine and spirits. Previously serving as weekly wine and drinks columnist for the Business Post Magazine he now writes for the magazine Business Plus where he delves into his years of experience, offering an insight into pairing wine with food while attempting to break down the barriers of accessibility so that everyone can enjoy the wonders of the wine world. Cathal began a blog in 2015 where he shares recipes instilled in promoting Irish produce and world cuisine. He has also contributed on travel for the Business Post Magazine, serves as a judge for the Food and Wine Restaurant of the Year awards, and is a proud member of the Irish Food Writers’ Guild.
