Kog25: A Celebration of Grape, Place, and People
Earlier this month, Zsolt travelled to the village of Kog in Slovenia for Kog25 — a wine event unlike any other. Hosted by the brilliant team at Roka Winery and Miro Vino, this gathering brought together wines from across the globe for a unique, variety-led tasting experience.
Over the course of the event, 100 wines from 9 countries were poured, with a different grape variety taking centre stage each day. This year’s spotlight fell on three expressive and distinctive grapes: Furmint, Blaufränkisch, and Welschriesling. Rather than focusing on regions or producers, Kog25 turned the spotlight solely on the grape and its many expressions — crossing borders, styles, and traditions in the process.
What made Kog25 truly special was its not-for-profit nature and collaborative spirit. Winemakers, sommeliers, journalists, and wine lovers came together to taste, learn, and connect. Each workshop was a deep dive into the nuances of terroir, climate, and winemaking, creating space for open conversation and shared discovery.
Massive thanks to Liam, Sinéad from Roka Winery and Miro from Miro Vino for curating such an inspiring and generous event — a true celebration of wine in its purest form. Event Supported by I Feel Slovenia.
