Gallery Wall: Lidia De Lange: ‘Portraits & Washing Lines.
Introducing the newest exhibition to our Gallery Wall by Loughrea-based artist Lidia De Lange: ‘Portraits and Washing Lines.’
Lidia De Lange works primarily in oil on canvas, choosing to build her narrative with representational images. Her work revolves around figures, portraits, and plants. She strives to develop a visual language that maintains an emotional connection with the figure while allowing viewers to form their own subjective interpretations of the image.
When asked why she paints, Lidia describes it as an irresistible compulsion. Through her painting, she discovers a fluid means to explore the unspoken. Creating an image enables her to express what words cannot and to delve into the fragility of the human condition. Painting provides her with the opportunity to reconcile her inability to halt the relentless passage of time and the brevity of life by capturing moments of joy and beauty.
