Meet the Artist: Elena Moreno
Elena Moreno, originally from Spain, has been a vibrant part of Galway's art scene since 2013. With a rich background in Art History, Fine Art, and Restoration, developed between the cultural hubs of Valencia and Italy, Elena brings a unique perspective to her work. Since settling in Galway, she has become a key member of ENGAGE ART STUDIOS and was among the first artists at Francis Street Studios.
Elena’s passion for art extends beyond her canvas; she recently began sharing her expertise as an art teacher, helping others to discover their own creative paths. Her commitment to her craft and community is evident in every piece she creates.
"Impressions of the West": A Celebration of Irish Landscapes
The exhibition, titled "Impressions of the West", is a visual journey through the awe-inspiring landscapes of the West of Ireland. Elena’s work primarily focuses on landscapes, capturing the essence of the region with an incredible attention to detail.
Using oil paint as her primary medium, Elena masterfully recreates the vibrant skies, textured rocks, and rugged terrain that define the Irish landscape. Recently, she has begun experimenting with Cold Wax/oil techniques, adding a new dimension to her work. Her paintings are not just representations of nature; they are a celebration of the wild, untamed beauty that surrounds us.
Elena's technical skill, combined with her innovative use of colour, draws viewers into her world, allowing them to experience the landscapes as she sees them—full of life, emotion, and history.
